DULUTH, Minn. (csssaints.com) - St. Scholastica women's hockey rallied from down two goals in the third period to tie Lake Forest College 4-4 after neither team could decide the game in overtime.
The Foresters jumped out to 1-0 lead early in the first period with Laura Reckdenwald scoring from Michelle Greeneway. At 4:07 of the first period Marissa Weber put LFC up 2-0 with Kayla Griffith picking up the assist on the goal.
Kristen Hunt (Winnipeg, Manitoba/West Kildonan) replaced
Lindsey Hartfiel (Big Lake, Minn./Buffalo HS) in net for CSS following the goal.
Amanda Broman (Mankato, Minn./Mankato East HS) scored at 11:28 from
Kaleigh Hamann (St. Michael, Minn./St. Michael-Albertville HS) to bring the Saints within one, however, the Foresters would regain the two-goal advantage just a few minutes later with Allie Girard scoring an unassisted goal.
Lake Forest kept rolling offensively into the second period with Michelle Greeneway finding the back of the net at 1:45 of the period for her 14
th goal of the season.
Despite being down 4-1, St. Scholastica kept battling and would be rewarded with a goal from freshmen forward
Abby Sawyer (Owatonna, Minn./Owatonna HS) at 7:49 of the second period.
Brenna Smith (Apple Valley, Minn./Apple Valley HS) and
Nina Waidacher (Arosa, Switzerland/Wirtschaftschule KV Chur (ZSC Lions/Swiss U18 National)) recorded assists on the play. Sawyer ranks third on the Saints in scoring with eight goals on the season.
The Foresters led the Saints in shots goal 19-to-9 through two periods of play.
Less than five minutes into the third period the Saints would once again cut the deficit to just one goal.

Nina Waidacher (Arosa, Switzerland/Wirtschaftschule KV Chur (ZSC Lions/Swiss U18 National)) completed the comeback for CSS scoring her NCHA leading 18
th goal of the season to tie the game at 4-4 with eight minutes remaining in regulation.
Kaitlin Johnston (Lake Elmo, Minn./Stillwater HS) and
Ivy Smith (Rice Lake, Wis./Rice Lake HS (St. Cloud State)) assisted on the goal.
The game would remain tied through regulation and a five-minute overtime period as neither team could find a deciding goal. Lake Forest outshot CSS 5-to-1 in overtime.
Kristen Hunt (Winnipeg, Manitoba/West Kildonan) made 24 saves for St. Scholastica after entering the game early in the first period.
CSS is now 0-1-2 in three matchups against LFC this season.
The Saints begin a four-game road trip with a game against Concordia University Wisconsin on Friday at 7 p.m.
