DULUTH, Minn. (csssaints.com) – The St. Scholastica women's hockey team mustered only five shots on goal in its 4-1 loss Saturday to No. 7 University of Wisconsin-River Falls at Mars Lakeview Arena.
The Saints were first to score in Saturday's game. The lone goal came from
Amanda Broman (Mankato, Minn./Mankato East HS) on a power play about midway through the first period. She was assisted by teammates
Anja Kadijevic (Zagreb, Croatia/General HS (Lindenwood)) and
Zahn Thompson (Fairbanks, Alaska/West Valley HS). Answering her first period goal was UW-River Falls player Carly Moran. The score was 1-1 after the first 20 minutes.
Karleigh Wolkerstorfer and Brianna Breiland scored a goal each within 20 seconds of each other during the second period and the Falcons led the Saints 3-1 after two periods of play.
Closing out the game in the third period was a goal by Wolkerstorfer for the Falcons making the score 4-1. UW-River Falls goalie, Angie Hall had four saves in the game.
Lindsey Hartfiel (Big Lake, Minn./Buffalo HS) played in her fourth consecutive game and had 33 saves in the matchup.
UW-River Falls improved its record to 13-3, while St. Scholastica's record falls to 7-8-1.
