DULUTH, Minn. (csssaints.com) – The St. Scholastica women's hockey team dropped its series opener against No. 7 University of Wisconsin-River Falls by a score of 4-2 Friday evening.
Falcon player Karleigh Wolkerstorfer had the lone goal of the first period to give UW-River Falls a 1-0 edge.
In the second period, Alice Cranston scored twice, 28 seconds apart in the first minute for the Falcons to make it 3-0.
Abby Sawyer (Owatonna, Minn./Owatonna HS) then scored for St. Scholastica cutting the lead to 3-1.
Sami Anderson (Roseville, Minn./Roseville HS) and
Nina Waidacher (Arosa, Switzerland/Wirtschaftschule KV Chur (ZSC Lions/Swiss U18 National)) assisted the Sawyer in the goal.
Chloe Kinsel netted another goal for the Falcons to make it 4-1 in favor of UW-River Falls.
Anja Kadijevic (Zagreb, Croatia/General HS (Lindenwood)) scored St. Scholastica's second goal.
Lindsey Wright (Anchorage, Alaska/Grace Christian HS (Team Alaska U19)) and
Taylor Guzzo (Silver Bay, Minn./William Kelley HS (UW-River Falls)) assisted her to make the score 4-2 after two periods. The third period was quiet with only two shots on goal for both teams and no goals scored.
