DULUTH, Minn. (csssaints.com) – The St. Scholastica women's basketball team lost to the University of Northwestern (MN) by a score of 66-55 despite holding a seven point lead in the second half.

The Eagles came out on fire out of the gate scoring the game's first nine points highlighted by a 3-point play by Jacki Smith for the game's first 3 points.

CSS would claw their way back into the game late in the first half when they sparked a 10-0 run to tie the game up at 25 apiece with 6:29 to go in the half. Sam Brannen (Ramsey, Minn./Anoka HS) capped off the run with a 3-point shot which ended up being her only points of the game.

The half would end with CSS down 31-30 after Brittani Brennan (Ashland, Wis./Ashland HS) sunk another 3-pointer with just seven seconds to go.

The second half started with a scoring surge for the Saints. They scored 15 points in just over four minutes of play versus just eight for the Eagles to take a seven point lead at 45-38 with 15:55 left in the game, which would prove to be their biggest lead of the game.

Unfortunately for the Saints, Northwestern would answer the 18-7 run with a 14-3 run of their own to take a four point lead with 4:06 left in the game.

Northwestern would then pour on the points in an onslaught that the Saints just could not overcome and the final buzzer sounded with Northwestern defeating the St. Scholastica by a final score of 66-55.

Chanel Madson finished with 19 points for Northwestern while Regan Cooper recorded a double double with 11 points and 11 rebounds in the game.

Northwestern's starting five outscored the five of CSS 55 to 37. Emily Glomski (Ras Tanura, Saudi Arabia/Dhahran HS) led the bench scoring for CSS with eight points. She also had seven rebounds in the game to lead the team.
