DULUTH, Minn. (csssaints.com) – The St. Scholastica volleyball team looks to continue its perfect UMAC record this weekend while hosting North Central University on Friday night at 7 p.m. and the University of Northwestern  on Saturday at 1 p.m. Both matches will be played in the Reif Gymnasium.

The Saints extended their winning strak to five last weekend with a pair of sweeps over Martin Luther College and Bethany Lutheran College ... All seven of CSS' wins this season have come by sweeps.
 
UMAC Player of the Week: Four Saints were named UMAC players of the week this past week, volleyball's Kortney Morrin (Grantsburg, Wis./Grantsburg HS (Northern State)) was among those named… Morrin was titled Offensive Player of the Week for the second time this season…In two conference match-ups last weekend, Morrin had 21 kills,27 digs, and four blocks… She had a double-double in both matches ... Morrin is tied a top the conference, averaging 3.3 kills per set.

The Hortness Effect: Since Jen Hortness (Little Falls, Minn./Little Falls HS) has been installed into the starting line, the Saints are 5-2 and she has recorded at least seven kills in six of those seven matches ... Hortness currently leads the conference with a .319 attack percentage.
 
Perfect Conference Record: CSS has a perfect record in the UMAC going into this weekend's play… Both wins came last weekend against Martin Luther and Bethany Lutheran… Northwestern brings a 3-0 UMAC record... Who will retain their perfect conference performance?
 
Series History:
North Central dropped both matches to Scholastica last season resulting in a 7-0 record for CSS against the Rams… Coach Dana Moore has been the coach of all seven of the matches played against North Central ... Last season the Saints lost all three matches to Northwestern and hold a 43-47-1 overall record … Coach Moore has a 15-36 record with Northwestern.
 
North Central Rams
The Rams come into Friday's match with a 3-8 overall record and at 0-3 they are still looking for their first conference win… North Central has lost to Crown, Minnesota Morris, and Northwestern from the UMAC this season... Karlee Huber comes to Duluth averaging just over two kills per set while her teammate Ashley Kelzer leads the team with 65 kills all season.
 
Northwestern Eagles
Northwestern will be visiting the Reif this weekend and brings an 8-6 overall record with it… The Eagles also have a perfect UMAC season so far with wins coming from Minnesota Morris, Crown, and North Central in a three game win streak in the conference, the last two being sweeps… The Eagles are sporting a four-match win streak coming into Saturday's match… Lindsey Peterson leads the Eagles with 148 kills followed by Hallie Mueth at 143 kills.
