Notables:

  • Freshman goalkeeper Jacob Ballheimer (Gerrards Cross, England/Chalfonts Community College) recorded his third straight shutout for the Saints. He was also recently named the UMAC Defensive Player of the Week.
NORTHFIELD, Minn. (csssaints.com) – The St. Scholastica men's soccer team earned their third straight victory in a row with a 2-0 win over Carleton College Wednesday night.

The Saints win gives them three victories over non-conference teams and also improves their season record to 3-1-0.

The game went back and forth for the first 20 minutes, with both teams having chances to put their team ahead. Andrew Jenkins (Cardiff, Wales/Whitchurch HS) would come through for the Saints, scoring off a rebound from his own header just a couple seconds earlier. The goal would be Jenkins' second of the season. Carleton had a chance to tie the game about ten minutes later, but Ballheimer made the save to keep it 1-0 going into the locker room.

The second half would be much of the same as the first with both teams creating opportunities to score. Both defenses stood their ground though until the 85th minute when Shawayne Folkes (Toronto, Ontario/Maxwell Heights) notched his second goal of the year by burying a low-angle shot from the right wing into the net to seal the win for the Saints by the final score of 2-0.

Ballheimer made four saves to earn the shutout, the third in a row for the Saints. Keenan Smith also made four saves in the losing effort for the Knights.

The Saints look to keep their winning streak going when they take on Gustavus Adolphus down in St. Peter, Minn. The action starts at 4 p.m.
