Women's Track & Field Begins Outdoor Season

LA CROSSE, Wis. (csssaints.com) – The St. Scholastica women's track & field team opened its outdoor season at the Ashton May Invitational, hosted by the University of Wisconsin-La Crosse.

Becky Huberty (Lena, Wis./Lena HS) placed second in the shot put with a toss of 43'10.75" (13.38m). Freshman Jadyn Bonasera (Princeton, Minn./Princeton HS) placed third in the discus throw with a mark of 128'10" (39.27m). Nicole Christianson (Coon Rapids, Minn./Coon Rapids HS) was third in the high jump, clearing a height of 5'2.25" (1.58m).

Amy Campbell (Cloquet, Minn./Cloquet HS) and Brea Durovec (Meadowlands, Minn./Floodwood HS) placed fourth and fifth, respectively in the 400m hurdles. Campbell's time was 1:08.95, while Durovec finished in 1:09.05.

The 4x400m relay team of Maggie Kurtovich (Andover, Minn./Andover HS), Emily Lundgren (Aitkin, Minn./Aitkin HS), Andrea Mogren (Forest Lake, Minn./Forest Lake HS) and Brianna Buske (Bloomer, Wis./Bloomer HS) finished fourth with a time of 4:08.21.

Buske led the Saints to a fourth place finish in the 800m run. Buske's time was 2:20.07. Lundgren was seventh in that event with a time of 2:23.41.

Kurtovich was seventh in the 400m dash, finishing in 1:01.17. Hannah Russert (Caledonia, Minn./Caledonia HS ) was also seventh in the 100m hurdles with a time of 15.74.

The Saints will be competing at the University of Wisconsin-River Falls Falcon Invitational next Saturday. Emily Schwantke (Brook Park, Minn./Hinckley-Finlayson HS) will also be taking part in the Emporia State (Kan.) Multi's on Thursday and Friday next week.
