Adams and Johnson Break Records at LSC

DULUTH, Minn. (csssaints.com) – The St. Scholastica women's track & field team saw two program records fall and won six events on Saturday at the Lake Superior Challenge at the Burns Wellness Fieldhouse.

Chelsea Johnson (North Branch, Minn./Chisago Lakes HS) won and set the program record in the 3000m run, posting a time of 10:19.96. Bre Adams (Crystal, Minn./Robbinsdale Armstrong HS) set the other program record in the 800m run, placing second with a time of 2:18.43. Brianna Buske (Bloomer, Wis./Bloomer HS) was third and Taylor Gibson (La Crescent, Minn./La Crescent HS) fourth in that event.

The 4x400m relay team of Maggie Kurtovich (Andover, Minn./Andover HS), Laurel Ohaju (Duluth, Minn./Duluth Central HS), Emily Lundgren (Aitkin, Minn./Aitkin HS) and Buske were victorious with a time of 4:07.00. Ohaju also was a winner in the 400m dash with a time of 59.70. 

Nicole Christianson (Coon Rapids, Minn./Coon Rapids HS) took the top spot in the high jump, clearing 5'0.25" (1.53m), while Becky Huberty (Lena, Wis./Lena HS) swept the throwing competitions once again. Huberty's top mark in the weight throw was 55'8.25" (16.97m). Her winning shot put toss was 44'8" (13.61m). 

Katharine Roetering (Maple Grove, Minn./Maple Grove HS) and Maggie Bair (Ham Lake, Minn./Blaine HS) tied for third in the pole vault with both clearing 9'8.5" (2.96m). Roetering was also third in the triple jump with a mark of 34'2.25" (10.42m).

Some Saints will be across the bridge next Saturday at the Yellowjacket Open, hosted by UW-Superior, while others will be at the Minnesota State Open in Mankato.
