Women's Track & Field Begins Indoor Season

DULUTH, Minn. (csssaints.com) – The St. Scholastica women's track & field team opened its season with The Opener Saturday at the Burns Wellness Fieldhouse.
 
2014 NCAA Indoor All-American Nicole Christianson (Coon Rapids, Minn./Coon Rapids HS) won the high jump, clearing a fieldhouse record of 5'3.75" (1.62m). Hailey Fentem (International Falls, Minn., Falls HS) was fourth in that event, clearing 4'9.75" (1.47m). Christianson also won the triple jump with a mark of 36'3" (11.05m).
 
Brianna Buske (Bloomer, Wis./Bloomer HS) set the program record in the 300m dash, placing third with a time of 42.37. Emily Lundgren (Aitkin, Minn./Aitkin HS) was third in the 600m run finishing in 1:44.01.
 
The 4x400m relay team of Maggie Kurtovich (Andover, Minn./Andover HS), Lundgren, Nicole Young (Amery, Wis., Amery HS) and Buske came from behind to edge the University of the Minnesota-Duluth with a winning time of 4:16.59.
 
The Saints will be in action next at the Bethel Open in St. Paul on Saturday, January 10.
