Upper Midwest Athletic Conference: Standings Stats

St. Scholastica officially wrapped up the regular season in fine fashion with two huge victories over the weekend…On Friday the Saints secured the No.1 seed heading into the UMAC playoffs with a 1-0 defeat of the University of Minnesota-Morris…CSS then officially claimed sole owner of the UMAC regular season title with a 3-0 victory over Martin Luther College.

Kehtel Clutch Performance: Had it not been for the late-game heroics of Kelsey Kehtel (Duluth, Minn./Duluth East HS) the Saints may have ended up drawing against Minnesota-Morris for a second time this season…Kehtel was originally credited with a goal in the 87th minute of the contest against the Cougars but it was later correctly changed to an own goal…CSS will rely heavily on Kehtel to provide scoring in the playoffs as she tallied 18 of her 19 goals on the year against UMAC opponents.

Shutdown Defense: St. Scholastica shutout its opponents 12 times this season…All 12 shutouts came against UMAC opponents…CSS goalkeeper Kelsey Reeves (Eagle River, Alaska/Eagle River HS ) led all UMAC goalkeepers with 10 shutouts to her name this season…Reeve's also set the program record for career shutouts (27) in the 3-0 win over Martin Luther College on Saturday.

Home Field Advantage: Gaining home field advantage for the UMAC playoffs was crucial for the Saints who hold a 6-1-1 record this season when playing at Saints Field…CSS has scored 27 of their 49 goals this season in home games.

Championship Material: St. Scholastica has won the UMAC Championship three years in a row…The Saints matched up against the University of Minnesota-Morris in each of the past three championship games.

Semi-Final Rematch: The Saints will face Northland in the UMAC Semifinal game for the second consecutive season…CSS was able to defeat the LumberJills 4-0 in the 2013 semifinal game at Saints Field.

Hamm Heating Up: Leah Hamm (Duluth, Minn./Duluth Denfeld HS) scored three goals in St. Scholastica's 3-0 win against Martin Luther College on Saturday…The hat trick brought Hamm's total for the year to eight goals in 19 games started…Last season Hamm was able to find the back of the net 15 times, including a playoff goal against Northland, while starting only two games.

Series History: St. Scholastica is 37-3 all-time against the LumberJills…Over their last 10 games against Northland CSS is 10-0…The Saints are 20-0 against Northland when playing at home.

Northland College LumberJills
The LumberJills finished the regular season with a record of 11-8-1 while going 7-7 in the UMAC…Northland had won five games in a row before losing 4-1 to the University of Minnesota-Morris in Saturday's regular season finale…Madeleine Wieland led the team with 19 goals this season which tied her with Kehtel for the most among UMAC players…Freshman goalie Emily Romuald has been dependable in net for the LumberJills with a 2.11 goals-against average and seven shutouts on the year.
