PREVIEW: Women's Basketball Bridge Battle Set for Tuesday

DULUTH, Minn. (csssaints.com) – The women's basketball edition of The College of St. Scholastica and University of Wisconsin-Superior Bridge Battle will take place Tuesday night at the Reif Gymnasium.

The Saints began their season on a sour note on Saturday with a 63-47 loss to Augsburg College … The Saints led by two at halftime, but the Auggies shot 53 percent in the second half to pull away … Kelsey Sorenson-Giffrow (Braham, Minn./Braham HS (Minn. Duluth)) led the Saints with 11 points.
 
Consistent at the Free Throw Line: The Saints as a team set a program record by shooting 73.9 percent from the charity stripe last season and were 16-for-20 from the line in Saturday's loss.
 
Must Protect the Ball: The Saints committed 23 turnovers in Saturday's loss … CSS had a season-high 32 turnovers in a loss to Augsburg last year and were 4-3 last season when it committed at least 20 turnovers.
 
One Final Time: This will be the final non-conference contest between the Saints and Yellowjackets as UWS joins the UMAC in 2015-16.
 
Series History: The Saints are 24-22 all-time against the Yellowjackets … CSS has lost four straight against UWS, all by double-figures.
 
University of Wisconsin-Superior Yellowjackets
The Yellowjackets have already played four games this season and picked up their first win on Saturday at Macalester College 69-49 … UWS is led by senior Sally Linzmeier, who is the reigning Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (WIAC) Player of the Year … Linzmeier has led the team in scoring in each of the first four games and is averaging 14.8 points per game … Brynn Liljander and Deandra Vavra are also averaging in double figures both at 11 points per game … Additionally, Linzmeier leads the team in rebounding at 6.5 boards per game.
