LAKE FOREST, Ill. (csssaints.com) – St. Scholastica women's hockey suffered its second loss of the season to Lake Forest College 3-1 on Saturday night in a Northern Collegiate Hockey Association matchup.
Melissa Paluch got the scoring started for the Foresters with her third goal of the season at 15:08 of the first period with Holly Lesperance adding the assist on the goal.
CSS struggled offensively in the opening period only managing five shots compared to 12 shots for Lake Forest.
In the second period the Foresters doubled their lead on a goal from Allie Girard. Emily Wybo and Kayla Griffith were credited with assists.
The Saints would finally break the shutout in the third period with

Despite registering 11 shots in the third period alone, the Saints were unable to score the tying goal. Michelle Greeneway iced the game for the Foresters with 40 seconds remaining by adding an empty-net goal to make the score 3-1.
Kristen Hunt (Winnipeg, Manitoba/West Kildonan) made 27 saves for St. Scholastica in a losing effort. The loss is Hunt's first of the year in four starts.
Casey Hartfiel made 24 saves for Lake Forest in her third start of the season.
CSS drops to 5-2-1 overall on the season and in the conference but remain tied for first place in the NCHA standings with Adrian College.
The Saints travel to Adrian, Michigan next weekend to take on the Adrian College Bulldogs in a two-game series starting on Saturday night with puck drop at 7 p.m. (ET).
