Saints Top Green Knights 3-1 in Come Back Win

Notables:
-Abby Sawyer (Owatonna, Minn./Owatonna HS), Nina Waidacher (Arosa, Switzerland/Wirtschaftschule KV Chur (ZSC Lions/Swiss U18 National)), and Sierra Hanowski (Warroad, Minn./Warroad HS) were the goal scorers for CSS in the 3-1 win.
-Hanowski and Waidacher, who scored the game-winning goal, are now tied atop the NCHA goal scoring lead with seven goals apiece.
-Waidacher also leads the NCHA in points (13) and is tied with teammate Alex Blair (Drake, Saskatchewan/Lanigan Central HS) for the lead in assists (6).
-Kristen Hunt (Winnipeg, Manitoba/West Kildonan) earned her third victory of the season for St. Scholastica in a 25 save performance. Hunt leads the NCHA in save percentage (.964) and goals-against average (0.67).

DULUTH, Minn. (csssaints.com) – St. Scholastica women's hockey defeated St. Norbert College 3-1 Saturday afternoon at Mars Lakeview Arena to split the two-game series at one game apiece.
 
St. Norbert entered the game looking for a sweep over the Saints in the two-game series and the Green Knights jumped out to an early 1-0 in the first period when Kylie Gazzolo scored a power-play goal at the 14:58 mark. Megan Crandell and Lauren Roethlisberger contributed the assists on the play.
 
The Saints would be unable to answer back in the first even though they outshot the Green Knights in the period 10-4.
 
Abby Sawyer (Owatonna, Minn./Owatonna HS) would answer back for CSS less than 5 minutes into the second period. Ivy Smith (Rice Lake, Wis./Rice Lake HS (St. Cloud State)) was credited with an assist on the play. St. Scholastica was finally able to convert despite being outshot by St. Norbert 13-6 in the period.
 
In the third and final period the Saints would put the game away with two unanswered goals. 6:36 into the third Nina Waidacher (Arosa, Switzerland/Wirtschaftschule KV Chur (ZSC Lions/Swiss U18 National)) put CSS on top 2-1 with her seventh goal of the season from Nikki Logergren (Duluth, Minn./Duluth Denfeld HS (Northern Stars)) and Kelly Ahlgren (Hayward, Wis./Hayward HS).
 
Sierra Hanowski (Warroad, Minn./Warroad HS) would ice the game for St. Scholastica with an empty-net goal with just 35 seconds remaining in the game. Hanowski's goal put her in a tie with Waidacher for the Northern Collegiate Hockey Association (NCHA) goal scoring lead with seven goals. Waidacher and Alex Blair (Drake, Saskatchewan/Lanigan Central HS) picked up assists on the play.
 
Kristen Hunt (Winnipeg, Manitoba/West Kildonan) backed stopped the Saints to victory with 25 saves earning her third win of the season. Brianna Kelly made 26 saves for the Green Knights in a losing effort.
 
With the victory St. Scholastica improves its record to 5-1 both on the season and in conference.
 
The Saints travel Lake Forest, Ill for a two-game series on Friday and Saturday against Lake Forest College.
