DULUTH, Minn. (csssaints.com) – The St. Scholastica volleyball team will be looking for its sixth and seventh conference wins as it travels on the road to square off against the North Central University Rams on Friday night at 7 p.m and the Northwestern Eagles on Saturday at noon.

The Saints volleyball team has been quite busy this week as this will be their third and fourth games in five consecutive days … St. Scholastica has split its last two games, both being sweeps … On Tuesday, they took a hard loss to University of Wisconsin-Stout in Menomonie, Wis. … CSS bounced back from the loss Wednesday night, however, as they picked up another conference win over Northland to set their UMAC record at 5-2 … Kortney Morrin (Grantsburg, Wis./Grantsburg HS (Northern State)) was the stand out player in the two previous contests, combining for a total of 16 kills.
Sweep or Lose: All of St. Scholastica's wins have been 3-0 sweeps, five conference and five non-conference … The Saints have not won a match after giving up a point.
Morrin on Fire: CSS junior Kortney Morrin (Grantsburg, Wis./Grantsburg HS (Northern State)) has been playing at an outstanding level so far this year … Morrin is second in the conference in kills per set with a stat of 3.27 and is third in the conference in total kills with 206.
Series History: The Saints proved to be the better team the first time they faced off against the Rams, sweeping them 3-0 … The overall series record goes to the Saints, as they have never lost a match to the Rams and hold a commanding 8-0 lead ... The CSS/Northwestern series is quite close, with the Eagles having the edge holding a 48-43-1 record over the Saints ... Northwestern won the first match of the year between the two teams by a score of 3-2.
North Central University Rams
The NCU Rams are 5-11 on the year, with a 1-6 record in the conference … The Rams are coming off of a 3-1 win against Finlandia and look to add to it in the start of a win streak ... NCU is led offensively and defensively by sophomore Karlee Huber, who has recorded a team high 97 kills on the year along with 132 digs … Sophomore Elissa Pheneger leads the team in assists per set with 7.47 … North Central is trying to crawl back into the mix of things, and with a win against CSS they would be tied for sixth in the conference with Crown College.
Northwestern Eagles
The Eagles are 13-7 on the year, and hold the first place spot in the conference with a reord of 7-0 ... Northwestern is coming off of a loss against University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire, which ruined its nine match win streak they were currently on ... The Eagles most dominant player on offense is freshman Lindsey Peterson, who has recorded 222 kills so far this season ... The other leaders on the team include junior Lizzy Jonas with 871 assists, senior Lizzy Potratz with 338 digs, and senior Hallie Mueth with 213 kills, nine behind team leader Peterson.
