MANKATO, Minn. (csssaints.com) – St. Scholastica women's soccer defeated Bethany Lutheran College 1-0 Friday night behind a
Kirsten Olsen (Ham Lake, Minn./Blaine HS ) first half goal.
Kirsten Olsen (Ham Lake, Minn./Blaine HS ) opened the scoring for St. Scholastica in the 24
th minute off of a
Jalyn Britton (Eagan, Minn./St. Croix Lutheran HS) corner kick. The goal was Olsen's second of the season and Britton notched her 10
th assist.
The Saints recorded nine shots in the first half forcing Bethany Luther goalkeeper Megan Zeller to make four saves as well as winning four corners in the first half. The Vikings were held to just two shots, none on goal, in the half to go along with one corner.
Neither team could find the back of the net in a scoreless second half. St Scholastica recorded three shots on net but Zeller denied them with three more saves. She finished the game with seven. CSS also produced six corners finishing the game with 10 total.
The Vikings were credited with just one shot in the second half.
Kelsey Reeves (Eagle River, Alaska/Eagle River HS ) recorded the shutout for CSS, but did not make a save. Reeves leads the UMAC with seven shutouts this season.
St. Scholastica improves to 9-6-1 on the season and 9-0-1in UMAC play with its third straight victory. The Saints are currently first in the UMAC standings with 28 points just ahead of the University of Minnesota-Morris with 25.
The Vikings record drops to 6-9-1 overall and 5-5 in the UMAC. Bethany Lutheran is fourth in the UMAC standings with 15 points.
The Saints are at home to take on The University of Northwestern on Friday at 3:15 p.m.
