St. Scholastica Saints
Stats
Record: 8-7, 3-1 UMAC
Upper Midwest Athletic Conference: Standings | Stats
Hot Streak Halted: St. Scholastica had won six games previous to a five set loss to Northwestern on Saturday, in which the Saints lost the final set 16-14...Northwestern currently sits atop the conference standings with a perfect 5-0 record in UMAC play.
Killer Kortney: Kortney Morrin (Grantsburg, Wis./Grantsburg HS (Northern State)) has continued to be a force for the Saints after her first team all-UMAC selection last season...Morrin is currently second in the conference in kills per set and total kills, and is fifth with 179 digs.
Sweep or Sink: All eight wins so far this season have come in sweeps, as CSS has struggled in the later sets of matches...The Saints are 21-9 in the first two sets, compared to 9-12 in the final three.
Statistically Superior: St. Scholastica has outplayed opponents in nearly every statistical category...The Saints have more kills, assists, aces, digs and blocks than opponents while having a lower amount of errors.
Series History: The Saints have done well against the Cougars in years past, having won five of the last seven matches...CSS has also dominated Crown historically, as the Saints have never lost to the Storm in 27 contests, having dropped just three sets in program history...
University of Minnesota Morris Cougars
The Cougars will put a four game winning streak on the line at home on Friday against the Saints...Morris has not dropped a set during the winning streak, sweeping four consecutive UMAC opponents...the Cougars have been led by Emily Auch, who leads the conference in kills and kills per set...Morris is currently second in the conference standings behind Northwestern, as they also lost in five sets as CSS did Saturday, making for an interesting conference battle that could have tremendous impact down the road.
Crown College Storm
The Storm have struggled to find a rhythm so far this season, having won just six total sets, and look to break a four-game losing skid on Friday in a doubleheader against Finlandia University and Northland College before hosting the Saints on Saturday...Crown has been led by Katie Herrmann, who has a team high 77 kills, and Brittany Gamer, who leads the team with 162 assists...The Storm are a very young squad this season, with just five upperclassmen on the roster...Crown is currently 1-4 in the UMAC standings, and need a pair of weekend UMAC wins to climb back into tournament contention.
