Box Score APPLETON, Wis. (csssaints.com) – The 15th-ranked St. Scholastica men's hockey team split its Northern Collegiate Hockey Association (NCHA) series as it fell 3-2 to Lawrence University (Wis.) Saturday  evening.

The Saints were first on the scoreboard when Derek Hills (Campbell River, British Columbia/Timberline Secondary (Bowling Green State) ) was assisted by Paul Marcoux (Brandon, Manitoba /Vincent Massey Collegiate (Waywayseecappo-MJHL) ) and Dylan Nowakowski (Calgary, Alberta/Centennial HS (Brooks-AJHL) ), on a power play with over seven minutes left in the first period. For Hills, it was his third goal in two days.

The Vikings' Steve Hughes and Blake Roubos assisted Huck Saunders later in the period to even the score 1-1 at the first intermission.

The Vikings registered two goals in the second period as Sean Reynolds scored the go-ahead goal and just over four minutes later Huck Saunders lit the lamp to secure a 3-1 score.

The Saints were able to score again on a power-play goal by Brandon Nowakowski (Calgary, Alberta/Central Memorial HS (Calgary Royals-AJHL)), assisted by Justin Krabben (Rocky Mountain House, Alberta/Hunting Hills HS (Canmore-AJHL) ) and Alex Valenti (Blaine, Wash./Bellingham HS (Merritt-BCHL) ), to make it 3-2 at the second intermission. However, the third period went scoreless as the Saints fell 3-2.

Tyler Bruggeman (North Mankato, Minn./Mankato West HS (Austin-NAHL) ) stopped 30 out of 32 shots in the loss for CSS, while Mattias Soderqvist saved 30 out of 33 shots for the win for the Vikings (5-13-1, 4-8-0 NCHA).

The Saints power-play was 2-for-4 as Lawrence was 0-for-7.  CSS committed 10 penalties, which included a five-minute major and a game misconduct.

The Saints (10-5-4, 7-2-3 NCHA) will face Northland College next weekend for a two-game home-and-home conference series. Friday's game will take place at Mars Lakeview Arena. Puck drop is scheduled for 7 p.m. Watch the action live on Saints Sports Net.
