Box Score DULUTH, Minn. (csssaints.com) The Saints soccer team scored five goals and did not allow a shot all game as St. Scholastica easily defeated Northwestern 5-0 on Saturday afternoon at Saints Field.
The Saints wasted no time in the opening minutes as
Casey Mitchell (St. Cloud, Minn./St. Cloud Tech) scored the opening goal in the third minute of the contest. Later in the 25th minute, Mitchell found
Claire Lubansky (Chaska, Minn./Chaska HS) to extend the CSS lead to 2-0. St. Scholastica would tack on an additional goal before the end of the half as Lubansky found
Catherine Fisco (Lakeville, Minn./Lakeville North HS), who buried her second goal of the season in the 43rd minute.
CSS continued to apply the pressure in the second half, as
Shannon Carlson (Woodbury, Minn./Woodbury HS) went bar down just 40 seconds into the half. The score would remain at 4-0 until Carlson netted another goal later in the 72nd minute to bring the score to the final of 5-0. The Saints had 27 shots in the contest, 16 of which were on goal.
Megan Seymour (Lakeville, Minn./Lakeville South HS ) did not have a save in the contest, as Northwestern was unable to muster a shot. Eagles keeper Emily Johnson saved 11 shots in the loss for Northwestern.
The Saints (6-2-1) look to ride its six game winning streak into next weekend's UMAC contests at Bethany Lutheran and Martin Luther. CSS is a perfect 5-0 in conference play thus far.
