Women's Soccer Blanks Crown

Box Score ST. BONIFACIUS, Minn. (csssaints.com) – The St. Scholastica women's soccer team defeated Crown College 5-0 Friday evening in an Upper Midwest Athletic Conference (UMAC) contest.

CSS started the scoring when Kelsey Kehtel (Duluth, Minn./Duluth East HS) scored her sixth goal of the season on a penalty shot at 13:08 in the first half.  The Saints would end the first half up 1-0 and led Crown in shots 15-0.

The Saints picked up the pace for the second half, scoring a total of four goals.  The first of the four goals came unassisted less than five minutes into the half by CSS junior midfielder Casey Mitchell (St. Cloud, Minn./St. Cloud Tech). 

Forward Shannon Carlson (Woodbury, Minn./Woodbury HS) had the following goal at 66:36 on a penalty shot.  Just over four minutes later, Carlson scored again, assisted from Casey Mitchell (St. Cloud, Minn./St. Cloud Tech).  It was Mitchell's third assist of the season.

The final goal of the game came at 85:11, when sophomore Morgan Osborne (Saint Peter, Minn./Saint Peter HS) assisted fellow sophomore Leah Hamm (Duluth, Minn./Duluth Denfeld HS). 

The Saints (3-2-1 overall, 2-0-0 UMAC) outshot Crown 41-0. Megan Seymour (Lakeville, Minn./Lakeville South HS ) did not have to make a save to earn her first collegiate victory.

CSS heads to Minnesota Morris tomorrow to face the Cougars at 2:15 p.m. in another UMAC game.
