Women's Soccer Topples Jills in UMAC Opener

Box Score ASHLAND, Wis. (csssaints.com) – The St. Scholastica women's soccer team recorded a 4-0 win over the Northland LumberJills on Tuesday to begin UMAC regular season play in the win column.

Kelsey Kehtel (Duluth, Minn./Duluth East HS) would get the ball rolling in the first half, hitting the back of the net at 18:48, with Casey Mitchell (St. Cloud, Minn./St. Cloud Tech) assisting the goal. The Saints would outshoot Northland 14-0 in the first half.

Kehtel would strike again in the second half, tallying her 5th of the season in the 60th minute.

The Saints fired up the offense towards the end of the game, as Maggie Dolan (Minneapolis, Minn./St. Anthony Village HS) converted on penalty kick in the 87th minute to record her first goal of the season. Just over a minute later, Claire Lubansky (Chaska, Minn./Chaska HS) would score her first of the season, with Leah Hamm (Duluth, Minn./Duluth Denfeld HS) adding the assist.

The Saints (2-2-1 overall, 1-0-0 UMAC) recorded 20 shots in the match, while Northland (4-1-0 overall, 0-1-0 UMAC) recorded one shot in the contest.

CSS will continue UMAC conference play when they travel to Crown on Friday. The action begins at 4:15 p.m. in St. Bonifacius, Minn.
