PREVIEW: Volleyball to Face a Ranked St. Ben's Squad Again

DULUTH, Minn. (csssaints.com) – The St. Scholastica volleyball team returns to Minnesota this weekend, but will face  a team it saw in Washington last weekend when it squares off with 15th-ranked College of Saint Benedict on Saturday.

- The Saints are coming off their weekend trip to Washington where they finished with a 1-3 record in the Whitworth Tournament.
- The Saints played their opponent this weekend, Saint Benedict, in their first game of the tournament losing in straight sets.
- Two Saints were named to the All-Tournament Team, sophomore hitter Kortney Morrin (Grantsburg, Wis./Grantsburg HS (Northern State)) and freshman defensive specialist Alex Barsody (Onamia, Minn./Onamia HS).
- Morrin finished the tournament with a total of 45 kills including a 16 kill match against Whitman. Barsody had 77 total digs on the weekend which including 30 in the same match against Whitman.
- The Saints had a season-high 11 blocks in the win over Whitman (Wash.).
#15 College of Saint Benedict Blazers
Record: 10-0

- The 15th ranked Blazers continued their winning streak with a 3-1 win Wednesday over Northwestern, who was the preseason favorite to win the UMAC this year. The one lost set was the first set the Blazers have dropped all season.
- In that game, the Blazers had a season-high 56 kills as a team which was led by senior hitter Chelsea Rachel with 15 along with senior hitter Lexi Alm who had 14 of her own.
- The Blazers also had a few players on the All-Tournament Team from the same Whitworth Tournament that the Saints played in this last weekend. Junior setter Taya Kockelman was named the MVP of the tournament and was joined by sophomore middle blocker Mary Franz along with junior hitter Lexi Rinde.
