PREVIEW: Men's Hockey Looks to Remain Unbeaten in NCHA Play

DULUTH, Minn. (csssaints.com) – The 10th-ranked St. Scholastica men's hockey team will host Lake Forest College (Ill.) this weekend for the first time since 2009 for a two-game Northern Collegiate Hockey Association (NCHA) series at Mars Lakeview Arena.

- The Saints are coming off a 4-2 victory over No. 1-ranked St. Norbert College on Saturday in a non-conference game played in Wausau, Wis.
- In addition to be ranked 10th in the USCHO.com poll, the Saints are also ranked 15th in the D3hockey.com poll.
- The win over the No. 1-ranked Green Knights, was the first victory over a No. 1-ranked team for the program under Head Coach Mark Wick. CSS had been 0-3-0 in previous games against No. 1-ranked squads, all vs. St. Norbert.
- Chad Golanowski (Calgary, Alberta/Bishop Carroll HS (Calgary Canucks-AJHL) ) scored two goals, while Keegan Bruce (Bellingham, Wash./Bellingham HS (Weyburn-SJHL) ) and Brandon Millin (Port Moody, British Columbia/Heritage Woods HS (Notre Dame Hounds-SJHL) ) added the other two.
- Bruce has scored a goal in three straight games, while Alex Valenti (Blaine, Wash./Bellingham HS (Merritt-BCHL) ) has recorded an assist in each of the last three games.
- Matt Malenstyn (Surrey, British Columbia/Tamanawis Secondary (Waywayseecappo-MJHL) ) recorded his fifth and sixth assists of the season.  Malenstyn is second on the team for assists (7).
- Goaltender Colin Rundell (Tees, Alberta/Lacombe Composite (Alaska-Fairbanks) ) saved 39 shots and holds a .915 saves percentage.  Rundell is fourth in the NCHA for saves percentage.
- The Saints are third in the nation in power-plays (10-for-31).

Lake Forest College Foresters
Record: 5-4-0 (4-2-0 NCHA)
Head Coach: Ryan McKelvie
- The Foresters are coming off a 2-1 loss last weekend against Saint Mary's.
- Jason McAloon scored the first and only goal of the game.  It was his third of the season.
- Goaltender Billy Cooper stopped 24-out-of-26 shots.  Cooper has a 2.79 goals-against-average and a .881 saves percentage.
- Junior Bobby Barrett is tied for second in the NCHA with eight goals.
- Lake Forest is second in the conference, averaging 35.1 shots per game.
- The Foresters are 38-for-45 in penalty kill.
Series History: (CSS is 16-23-0 vs. Lake Forest)
- The Saints and Foresters have not played since 2009 when both teams were part of the previous NCHA rendition. The Foresters left the NCHA to join the MCHA in 2009.
- The Saints won both meetings during the 2008-09 season.
