PREVIEW: Men's Hockey Headed Back to Milwaukee

DULUTH, Minn. (csssaints.com) - The St. Scholastica men's hockey team will head to Mequon, Wis. this weekend to face Concordia University Wisconsin for a two-game Northern Collegiate Hockey Association (NCHA) series.

Record:

- The Saints swept the Milwaukee School of Engineering (MSOE) to open the season last weekend.  It was the first season-opening sweep since 2009.
- Senior goaltender Colin Rundell (Tees, Alberta/Lacombe Composite (Alaska-Fairbanks) ) was named the NCHA Defensive Player of the Week for his performance last weekend, stopping 51 of 54 shots, including a shutout on Saturday.
- Paul Marcoux (Brandon, Manitoba /Vincent Massey Collegiate (Waywayseecappo-MJHL) ) scored a goal in each game, including the game-winner on Friday night.
- Brothers Dylan Nowakowski (Calgary, Alberta/Centennial HS (Brooks-AJHL) ) and Brandon Nowakowski (Calgary, Alberta/Central Memorial HS (Calgary Royals-AJHL)) both have two assists and one goal.
- CSS special teams were 4-for-8 on the power-play and 12-for-13 on the penalty-kill last weekend. The 76 percent rate for both teams was highest in the conference and is third best in NCAA Division III.
- The Saints are ranked in this week's USCHO.com Division III poll at 14th. They are the first team not ranked in the D3hockey.com poll.

Concordia University Wisconsin Falcons
Record: 2-0-0 (2-0-0 NCHA)
Head Coach: Jasen Wise
- The Falcons also opened the season with a two-game sweep of Lawrence University (Wis.) last weekend.
- It was a home-and-home series with the Falcons winning at Lawrence 6-2 on Friday night and then coming home for a 3-2 win on Saturday.
- Sophomore Chris Hughes led the team with two goals and an assist on the weekend.
- Fellow sophomore Devin Stuermer led the Falcons with four points with one goal and three assists.
- Goaltender Jake Hebda started and played both games against Lawrence, recording 58 saves and a .935 save percentage.
- The Falcons were also strong on the power-play last season killing off 14-of-15 power-plays.
- Concordia was picked to finish eighth in the league, according to the preseason coaches' poll.
Series History: (CSS is 0-0-0 vs. Concordia Wisconsin)
This will be the first-ever meeting between the two programs.
