PREVIEW: Women's Soccer Begins UMAC Tournament Tuesday

DULUTH, Minn. (csssaints.com) – The St. Scholastica women's soccer team will welcome Northland College to Saints Field on Tuesday for the UMAC Tournament Semifinals. The contest is scheduled to begin at 2 p.m.

- The Saints finished the regular season undefeated in the UMAC for the first time since the 2008 season and won its 10th consecutive UMAC regular season championship. The Saints also ended the regular season with a 16-game winning streak.
- In last Friday's game against Martin Luther, Kelsey Kehtel (Duluth, Minn./Duluth East HS) broke a couple program records. The first one being career goals as she scored her 67th goal of her career, and the second being goals in a season as she put in her 27th of the year.
- Kehtel would put in her 28th goal the in the next game against Bethany Luther, which is tops in the conference. She is also first in the conference in points with 62.
- Leah Hamm (Duluth, Minn./Duluth Denfeld HS) finished the regular season with 14 goals and 38 points, both ranked fourth in the conference. She also finished the regular season with 10 assists, which is also fourth in the conference.
- The Saints had a foursome of players finish in the top five in the conference for assists. Logan Williamson (Bloomington, Minn./Jefferson HS) finished second with 11, Claire Lubansky (Chaska, Minn./Chaska HS) was third with 10, Hamm finished fourth with 10 and Casey Mitchell (St. Cloud, Minn./St. Cloud Tech) having eight and in fifth.
- Defensively, the Saints have not given up a goal in three games and gave up a total of only eight goals all season with only two of those coming in conference play.
- Kelsey Reeves (Eagle River, Alaska/Eagle River HS ) comes into the tournament leading the conference in goals against average with a 0.67 average. She is also second in the conference in both save percentage and goals against as she has a .794 save percentage and has allowed only seven goals.

Record: 9-7-3 (5-7-2 UMAC)

- The Jills finished the season strong with wins at home over Minnesota Morris and Bethany Lutheran that got them into the postseason.
- Northland saw its three game winning streak end on Saturday as it lost to Martin Luther by a score of 2-1.
- Goalkeeper Jessica Jaeckel played well in the regular season, finishing tops in the UMAC in save percentage at .828. She also has a 1.71 goals against average which is fourth in the conference and also made 154 saves on the year, which is third in the conference. Jaeckel had seven shutouts on the year
- Madeleine Wieland leads the Jills offensively with 11 goals and 23 points. Jolynn Dohrmann is right behind Wieland with 22 points and Sarah Hudson has 18 points.
Series History: (CSS is 34-3-0 vs. Northland)
- The Saints swept the season series with scores of 4-0 and 5-0.
- The last time the Saints and Jills met in the postseason was the 2009 UMAC Tournament championship that saw the Saints prevail 1-0.
