PREVIEW: Men's Hockey to Face Top-Ranked St. Norbert

DULUTH, Minn. (csssaints.com) – The 13th-ranked St. Scholastica men's hockey team will face No. 1-ranked St. Norbert College in Wausau, Wis. on Saturday in a non-conference contest. It will be "College Hockey Night in Wausau". The puck drops at 6 p.m. at the Marathon Park Ice Arena.

Why Wausau? -  Both CSS and SNC had an extra game to fill. So the two teams decided to split the travel and showcase college hockey in Wausau. The game is sponsored by the Marathon County Youth Hockey Association. Tickets are $5 and are only available at the door. Fans who donate a non-perishable food item will receive $1 off the ticket price. Additionally, any youth hockey player wearing his or her game jersey will receive free admission. All proceeds from the game will be directed to MCYHA's fund for improving the rink at Marathon Park.

- The Saints are coming off its first loss of the season by a 3-2 score against rival UW-Superior on Saturday. 
- Josh Hansen (Chilliwack, British Columbia/Unity Christian School (Chilliwack-BCHL) ) scored his first collegiate goal in the loss.
- Keegan Bruce (Bellingham, Wash./Bellingham HS (Weyburn-SJHL) ) has scored a goal in each of the last two games.
- Team leaders are the top line of Brandon Nowakowski (Calgary, Alberta/Central Memorial HS (Calgary Royals-AJHL)), Dylan Nowakowski (Calgary, Alberta/Centennial HS (Brooks-AJHL) ) and Paul Marcoux (Brandon, Manitoba /Vincent Massey Collegiate (Waywayseecappo-MJHL) ).  Brandon leads the Saints with six goals, seven assists, and power-play goals (4).
- Dylan closely follows his brother with five goals and six assists.
- Marcoux has four goals and six assists. Three of his four goals have been of the game-winning variety, which is tied for the most in the nation.
- Tyler Bruggeman (North Mankato, Minn./Mankato West HS (Austin-NAHL) ) and Colin Rundell (Tees, Alberta/Lacombe Composite (Alaska-Fairbanks) ) have split time in net. Bruggeman is 3-0 and is fourth in the NCHA with a 2.00 goals-against-average. Rundell is 2-1-2 and has a 2.91 GAA.
- The Saints are 9-for-22 on power-play, good for fifth in Division III.
- The Saints are ranked 13th in the USCHO.com poll and continue to receive votes in the D3hockey.com poll.
- The last time the Saints played a No. 1-ranked team was November 21, 2008, also St. Norbert and that resulted in a 3-0 loss at Mars Lakeview Arena. CSS is 0-3-0 vs. No. 1-ranked teams in the Mark Wick era.

- The Green Knights travels to No. 4 UW-Eau Claire Wednesday night, before playing the Saints on Saturday.  
- St. Norbert is ranked No. 1 in both the USCHO.com and D3hockey.com polls. The Green Knights are one of five teams that have a 1.000 winning percentage in the country.
- Mason Baptista leads the NCHA in assists (9).
- Joe Perry leads the Knights with six goals, which is good for fourth in the NCHA.
- The Green Knights have the fourth-best scoring offense in the nation (4.62 goals/game) and the seventh-best scoring defense (1.50/game).
- Goaltender David Jacobson leads the NCHA with win percentage (1.000) and third for goals against average (1.53).
- St. Norbert has killed off 37-of-39 power-plays, which is the fourth-best penalty-kill in the country.
Series History: (CSS is 11-45-3 vs. St. Norbert)
- The Saints saw their season come to an end against St. Norbert last season, falling in the Peters Cup semifinals 2-1 at the Cornerstone.
