Box Score DULUTH, Minn. (csssaints.com) – The St. Scholastica women's soccer team used four first half goals en route to a 6-0 win over Martin Luther College Friday afternoon. Junior
Kelsey Kehtel (Duluth, Minn./Duluth East HS)'s two goals set a program record for career goals (67) and goals in a season (27).
This win marked the 15th straight victory for the Saints who continue to post a perfect UMAC record at 13-0.
Four different Saints players recorded goals in the first half with two coming within two minutes of one another. Kehtel put a left footer into the back of the net 10:40 into the game to break the program record for career goals. Then halfway through the 12th minute
Logan Williamson (Bloomington, Minn./Jefferson HS) put in a free kick to make the score 2-0 early in favor of the Saints.
Lauren Lynch (Maple Grove, Minn./Maple Grove HS) and
Casey Mitchell (St. Cloud, Minn./St. Cloud Tech) would add goals in the 28th and 38th minute,s respectively, with both goals being assisted by Williamson, making the score 4-0 at the half.
Kehtel would add another goal in the 61st minute of the second half to break the single-season program record, and teammate
Leah Hamm (Duluth, Minn./Duluth Denfeld HS) would score her first of the game in the 66th minute for the last score of the game to make the score 6-0 in favor of the Saints.
Shannon Carlson (Woodbury, Minn./Woodbury HS) also tallied two assists while Lynch recorded one on the day to bring both of their season totals to two.
The Saints will wrap up the UMAC regular season tomorrow on Senior Day when they play Bethany Lutheran at 12 p.m. at Saints Field. The Saints already have the number one seed locked up going into the UMAC playoffs which start on November 5th at home.
