Box Score MINNEAPOLIS, Minn. (csssaints.com) - The St. Scholastica women's soccer team got off to a fast start and never looked back as the defeated North Central by a score of 9-0.
The Saints would score their first goal just 27 seconds into the game as
Jalyn Britton (Eagan, Minn./St. Croix Lutheran HS) put one into the back of the net off an assist from
Lauryn Wilson (Fargo, N.D./Fargo South HS). The next Saints goal would come from another Britton – Wilson connection. The Saints would then score two goals in a four minute span as
Kelsey Kehtel (Duluth, Minn./Duluth East HS) notched her first goal of the game off a
Leah Hamm (Duluth, Minn./Duluth Denfeld HS) assist, with the second goal coming from Hamm off Wilson's third assist of the game. Later in the half Hamm would score her second goal of the game to give the Saints a 5-0 lead going into halftime.
The Saints dominated the first half with a 22-0 shot advantage and 9-0 advantage on corner kicks.
Just like in the first half, the Saints got off to a fast start with the second half as Kehtel put in her second goal of the game two minutes in, which was followed by a
Shannon Carlson (Woodbury, Minn./Woodbury HS) goal just one minute later. The action would slow down for a while until the last 10 minutes of the game as Kehtel scored her third and fourth goals to put the icing on the cake.
Angie Toepper (Lino Lakes, Minn./Centennial HS) got the shutout for the Saints. North Central's Shelby Norman had a busy day in net as she recorded 18 saves for the Rams.
At the end of the game the Saints had an outstanding 53-0 advantage in shots, which is a season high in shots for the Saints.
The next action for the Saints will be Friday at home against Minnesota Morris. The game starts at 1 p.m. at Saints Field.
