Volleyball Wraps up Road Trip with Victory over Crown

Box Score ST. BONIFACIUS, Minn. (csssaints.com) – The St. Scholastica volleyball team wrapped up a brief two-match road trip with a sweep over Crown College on Saturday afternoon.

The Saints came out firing on all cylinders in the first set, quickly jumping out to a 25-15 victory. The Saints only improved as the match went on, winning the second and third sets convincingly by scores of 25-11 and 25-12.

CSS did not trail the entire match and scored the first five points in the second set and first four in the third set. The Storm fall to 3-12 overall and 0-4 in the conference.

The Saints were led by senior hitter Anna Zyvoloski (Sauk Rapids, Minn./St. Cloud Cathedral HS (Minn.-Duluth))'s 12 kills, 10 digs and four service aces. Erika Birkeland (Prior Lake, Minn./Prior Lake HS) tallied 31 assists. Taylor Tyllia (Duluth, Minn./Duluth East HS), Kayla Horbacz (Isanti, Minn./Cambridge-Isanti HS) and Victoria Westlund (Turtle Lake, Wis./Turtle Lake HS) had seven kills apiece and Danielle Benusa (Shakopee, Minn./Shakopee HS) chipped in eight digs. Crown's offense was led by Trisha Birr's nine kills.

The Saints (8-8, 3-1 UMAC) will host a triangular on Wednesday featuring UMAC foe Northland College and the University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire. The Saints begin action vs. Northland at 5 p.m. All of the action can be seen live on Saints Sports Net.
