Box Score COON RAPIDS, Minn. (csssaints.com) – The St. Scholastica women's soccer team out shot North Central University 51-0 Thursday afternoon on its way to an 8-0 victory in Upper Midwest Athletic Conference (UMAC) action.
It took the Saints five minutes and 15 seconds to get their first goal of the game as
Casey Mitchell (St. Cloud, Minn./St. Cloud Tech) scored her first of the season with an assist from
Claire Lubansky (Chaska, Minn./Chaska HS).
Taylor Cunningham (Eau Claire, Wis./Eau Claire Memorial HS) scored just over two minutes later to make it 2-0.
Logan Williamson (Bloomington, Minn./Jefferson HS) assisted the goal.
Mitchell added her second tally of the game in the 16th minute with an assist from Cunningham. It was another four minutes until CSS made it 4-0 as
Andrea Beatt (Maple Grove, Minn./Maple Grove HS) got in the goal column with an assist from
Joey Moore (Duluth, Minn./Duluth East HS).
The final goal of the first half came in the 38th minute when
Lauryn Wilson (Fargo, N.D./Fargo South HS) scored her first of the season to make 5-0 St. Scholastica at the half. Cunningham and
Shannon Carlson (Woodbury, Minn./Woodbury HS) recorded assists.
The Saints outshot the Rams 28-0 in the first half and earned six corners.
It was Beatt again off of a Williamson corner for the Saints' six goal of the game 14 minutes into the second half. Mitchell would complete the hat trick in the 71st minute as she was assisted by Carlson and Cunningham. Mitchell becomes the third Saint in the past nine days to record a hat trick.
Cunningham added one more goal with assists from Carlson and
Theresa Magliano (Duluth, Minn./Duluth Denfeld HS) to make the final score 8-0.
Kelsey Reeves (Eagle River, Alaska/Eagle River HS ) did not face any shots as she earned her second shutout of the season. Noelle Stordock made 22 saves in the loss for the Rams (2-4-0, 0-3-0 UMAC).
The Saints (4-3-1, 3-1-0 UMAC) will be back at home Saturday when they face Northwestern College at Saints Field. The kickoff is scheduled for noon and can be seen live on Saints Sports Net.
