Volleyball Falls in Three to UWS

Box Score 1 SUPERIOR, Wis. (csssaints.com) – The St. Scholastica volleyball team was swept Tuesday evening by Bridge Rival University of Wisconsin-Superior at Mertz Mortorelli Gym.

The Yellowjackets pulled away in the opening set with a big run halfway through the set to take it 25-12. The 'jackets then scored the first five points of the second set and were up at one point 13-2 on their way to taking a two set lead 25-14.

Superior (12-2) would close it out in three by taking the third set 25-18. The loss to UWS snaps a four-match winning streak over the Yellowjackets.

Earlier in the night both teams defeated Lakehead University (Ont.) in exhibition matches.
 
Anna Zyvoloski (Sauk Rapids, Minn./St. Cloud Cathedral HS (Minn.-Duluth)) led the Saints with 10 kills with Kortney Morrin (Grantsburg, Wis./Grantsburg HS (Northern State)) adding five kills. Jenny Kienzle (Hermantown, Minn./Hermantown HS) had a team-high 11 digs. Nikki Gosson had a match-high 19 kills to lead Superior.

The Saints (5-7) will have their home and conference opener on Friday night when they host North Central University at 7 p.m. in the Reif Gymnasium. All of the action can be seen live on Saints Sports Net.
