Women’s Soccer’s Conference Unbeaten Streak Snapped

| By:
Box Score DULUTH, Minn. (csssaints.com) – An early goal proved to be the winner as the St. Scholastica women's soccer team fell to the University of Minnesota Morris on Homecoming Saturday at Saints Field, ending the Saints' regular season conference unbeaten streak.

The Saints came into today's contest having not lost an Upper Midwest Athletic Conference (UMAC) regular season contest in the past 99 games that dated back to the 2003 season. The last team to defeat the Saints in regular season conference play… Morris by a score of 2-1 in Duluth on October 12, 2003.

The goal came when Christina Mollan scored exactly seven minutes into the action on a loose ball in the box. That goal stood up in the 1-0 Cougar victory.

CSS outshot the Cougars 14-4 overall. However, the shots weren't enough to beat Cougars keeper Rikki Beaver, who had six saves in the contest.

The Saints fall to 3-3-1 overall and are now 2-1-0 in the UMAC.  The Cougars improve to 3-2-0 overall and are now leading the UMAC with a record of 2-0-0.

Minneapolis is where the Saints are headed next, where they will take on North Central University on Thursday at 2 p.m.
