Box Score DULUTH, Minn. (csssaints.com) –The St. Scholastica women's soccer team opened its UMAC conference play with an 11-0 win over the Northland LumberJills at Saints Field on a sunny Tuesday afternoon.
The scoring began three minutes into the game when
Alexi Bopray (River Falls, Wis./River Falls HS) netted her second goal of the season. Then, at 14:30 into the contest
Shannon Carlson (Woodbury, Minn./Woodbury HS) scored her first of three on the day, as she later scored in the 53rd minute, and the 60th minute to complete the hat trick. Carlson wasn't the only Saints player to record a hat trick as
Andrea Beatt (Maple Grove, Minn./Maple Grove HS) scored off a penalty kick at 18:04, scoring the second at 22:24, and the third at 58:29.
Two Saints earned their first collegiate goals in the game, as
Morgan Osborne (Saint Peter, Minn./Saint Peter HS) netted her first in the 33rd minute and in the 45th minute
Leah Zimmermann (Crystal, Minn./Robbinsdale Cooper HS) put her first away. The Saints netted a total of seven goals in the first half, with
Jalyn Britton (Eagan, Minn./St. Croix Lutheran HS) hitting the back of the net at 40:02.
Kelsey Kehtel (Duluth, Minn./Duluth East HS) tallied in the 69th minute for her first of the season to close out the scoring on the day, with
Casey Mitchell (St. Cloud, Minn./St. Cloud Tech) getting her second assist of the afternoon.
Joey Moore (Duluth, Minn./Duluth East HS) also was credited with two assists.
Angie Toepper (Lino Lakes, Minn./Centennial HS) earned her first collegiate start, and her first collegiate win in goal for the Saints. Overall, the Saints outshot the Lumberjacks 44-1 in the contest.
The Saints are now 2-2-I overall and have a record of 1-0-0 in UMAC play. The Lumberjacks are now 2-4-0 overall and fall to 0-1-0 in the conference.
Crown is headed to town for the Saints' next action on Friday; kickoff is scheduled for 2 p.m. at Saints Field. CSS will then face the University of Minnesota Morris on Homecoming Saturday; kickoff is slated for noon. All of the action can be seen live on Saints Sports Net.
