Box Score ABERDEEN, S.D. – The St. Scholastica men's basketball team capped its regular season with a 76-57 victory over the Presentation College Saints Saturday afternoon at the Strode Center.
The game started out with CSS taking an early lead at 19-13 with just under 10 minutes gone in the first half. Presentation then came back to take a lead just two minutes later with 7:35 left in the half. CSS would close out the half on a 13-5 run to take a 39-27 lead into the break.
CSS would open the second half just as it finished the first, chalking up a 14-0 run to open play in the second half to take it's largest lead at 28 points. CSS would control the rest of half and Presentation could not sustain any type of run and CSS went onto win the final game of the regular season, 76-57.
Presentation (8-16, 4-10 UMAC) was led by Darrell Farr who led all scorers with 19 points. He also grabbed 11 rebounds for a double-double. JerrBryon Graves chipped in 10 points for Presentation as well.
Presentation would finish the game shooting 42-percent from the field, 25-percent from beyond the arc, and 40-percent from the free-throw line. Presentation would collect 31 total rebounds and commit 11 turnovers.
The Saints were led by
Derek Steve (St. Cloud, Minn./St. Cloud Apollo HS) who put in 13 points.
MarShaan Johnson (Minneapolis, Minn./Minneapolis North HS (Minneapolis Comm. & Tech. College)) added 11 points and nine rebounds, while
Brett Tester (Andover, Minn./Andover HS) and
Jonah Dahlman (Braham, Minn./Braham HS) chipped in 10 points apiece.
The Saints would finish the game shooting 52-percent from the field, 55-percent from beyond the arc, and 70-percent from the free-throw line. The Saints would grab 35 total rebounds and commit 11 turnovers.
With Northwestern College's win over Martin Luther College today, the Saints (13-12, 10-4 UMAC) will be the No. 3 seed in the UMAC Tournament which will be held next week. The Saints will travel to face Northwestern on Wednesday in the UMAC Tournament semifinals. Tune into csssaints.com for updates regarding that game.
