#12 St. Scholastica Saints (14-7-4, 9-5-4 NCHA)
After a sub-.500 season last year the Saints bounced back with not only a winning season, but a season that earned them second place in the Northern Collegiate Hockey Association (NCHA) conference regular season… With the two, three and four seeds up for grabs going into the final weekend, the Saints earned their first shutout of the season and a weekend sweep to grab the second seed in the Peters Cup playoffs…
Brett Corcoran (Parksville, British Columbia/Ballenas Secondary (Trail Smoke-BCHL) ) finished the regular season strong and led the team with 32 points on 17 goals and 15 assists…
Jeremy Dawes (Winnipeg, Manitoba/College Jeanne Suave (Portage-MJHL) ) fought back from a late season injury to end the regular season with 25 points on 10 goals and 15 assists… The Saints had two others with 20+ points in
Carter Davis (Moose Jaw, Saskatchewan/Central Collegiate (Waywayseecappo-MJHL) ) with 24 on 10 goals and 14 assists and
Tyler Miller (Fort Frances, Ontario/Rainy River HS (Thunder Bay-SIJHL) ) with 24 points on eight goals and a team best 16 assists…The Saints ended the season with 10 players with 10 or more total points…
Colin Rundell (Tees, Alberta/Lacombe Composite (Alaska-Fairbanks) ) had a strong showing in goal for the Saints this season with an 11-7-4 record with a .910 save percentage including 563 saves… All of this success comes just four months after the Saints were chosen to finish dead last in the NCHA in the preseason polls.
UW-Stout Blue Devils (8-16-1, 4-13-1 NCHA)
The Blue Devils didn't quite have the season they were looking for but with the toughness of the NCHA they know any team can win on any given night and that's what matters come playoff time… Despite finishing last in the conference, Stout was victorious over a ranked team in UW-River Falls earlier in the season and had one-goal losses to conference powerhouses such as St. Norbert, St. Scholastica and also tied CSS…The Blue Devils were led this year by Brenden Gay who had 27 points on 13 goals and 14 assists… The only other player with at least 20 points was Mike Hartviksen who had 20 points on 10 goals and 10 assists… Tom Lescovich and Nick Hopper split time in goal this season for Stout… Lescovich earned a 5-8-0 record while Hopper ended the season with a record of 3-8-1.
