Box Score RIVER FALLS, Wis. (csssaints.com) – The St. Scholastica women's soccer team fell to the University of Wisconsin-River Falls by a 2-1 decision on Tuesday afternoon in the annual battle for the Chalice.
The Saints would strike first in the contest as
Andrea Beatt (Maple Grove, Minn./Maple Grove HS) scored her 13th goal of the season in the 18th minute. The Falcons answered less than four minutes later on a Carlin Bunting goal as both teams went into the locker room tied at 1-1.
The Falcons (6-6-1) outshot the Saints 12-8 in the first half with nine of their 12 shots being on net. Only two of CSS's eight shots were on goal in the half.
River Falls would net the game-winner less than five minutes into the second half on an Alyssa Manor goal. The Saints would get a few shots off in the final 10 minutes, but none hit the back of the net as the Falcons came out on top 2-1.
Kelsey Reeves (Eagle River, Alaska/Eagle River HS ) made 13 saves in the loss for the Saints. Rebecca Kramer had a pair of saves in the win for the Falcons. River Falls gets its first win over the Saints since the 2007 season.
The Saints (8-4-1) will be at home for the final time during the regular season on Thursday when they host North Central University for Senior Day at Saints Field. Play is slated to begin at 3:30 p.m. All of the action can be seen live on Saints Sports Net.
