Box Score DULUTH, Minn. (csssaints.com) – The St. Scholastica women's volleyball team took all three sets in its final regular season match against Bethany Lutheran College on Saturday at the Reif Gymnasium.
The Saints would jump out to a 6-1 lead in the first set and then added to the lead when
Danielle Benusa (Shakopee, Minn./Shakopee HS) served 11 in a row to put CSS up 22-6. The Saints would take the set 25-8.
The second set was tied up at 12 when the Saints went on an 8-2 run to go up 20-14. The Saints won the set 25-17.
CSS started the third set with an eight point lead, and kept that lead until going on a 6-2 run late to seize both the set and victory 25-13.
Kortney Morrin (Grantsburg, Wis./Grantsburg HS (Northern State)) led the Saints with 10 kills, while
Anna Zyvoloski (Sauk Rapids, Minn./St. Cloud Cathedral HS (Minn.-Duluth)) was credited with nine kills on the day. Zyvoloski led the Saints with 11 digs, while Benusa added 10 digs.
Erika Birkeland (Prior Lake, Minn./Prior Lake HS) led the team with 20 assists and
Jess Hanowski (Little Falls, Minn./Little Falls HS) added 16 assists in the contest.
The Vikings' season ends with a UMAC record of 5-9 and an overall record of 6-22.
CSS finished the regular season with a UMAC record of 11-3 and an overall record of 16-12. The Saints will be the No. 2 seed in next week's UMAC Tournament and will face Martin Luther College Wednesday night in the semifinals. Game time is set for 7 p.m. at the Reif Gymnasium.
