Shannon Carlson (Woodbury, Minn./Woodbury HS) recorded her second consecutive hat trick, while
Kelsey Kehtel (Duluth, Minn./Duluth East HS) and Megan Osborne both found the back of the net as the St. Scholastica women's soccer team shut out Martin Luther College 5-0 on Friday afternoon, extending its winning streak to six games.
With the win the Saints clinched at least a share of the UMAC Regular season title. CSS will go for the regular season title outright tomorrow.
CSS jumped out to an early lead as Kehtel scored with an assist from
Catherine Fisco (Lakeville, Minn./Lakeville North HS) to put the Saints up 1-0 just under ten minutes into the contest. The Saints would receive their second goal in the 39th minute as Carlson tallied her first of three in the contest. Carlson would get her second tally in the 44th minute off of a
Kaylee Benson (Nowthen, Minn./Anoka HS) assist, and the Saints would go into halftime up by three.
Carlson netted her third of the game and her third hat trick of the season in the 70th minute.
Casey Mitchell (St. Cloud, Minn./St. Cloud Tech) had the assist.
Morgan Osborne (Saint Peter, Minn./Saint Peter HS) would add another goal late to push the score to the final of 5-0.
Lauryn Wilson (Fargo, N.D./Fargo South HS) and
Joey Moore (Duluth, Minn./Duluth East HS) were credited with the assists on the Osborne goal.
Goalkeeper
Kelsey Reeves (Eagle River, Alaska/Eagle River HS ) made three saves in the first half, and was replaced by
Megan Seymour (Lakeville, Minn./Lakeville South HS ) in the second half, who did not have a save. The shutout is the fourth consecutive for the Saints. Keely Keese made 11 saves for the Knights in the loss.
The Saints (12-1-0 UMAC; 14-4-1 overall) will wrap up the regular season tomorrow at UMAC foe Bethany Lutheran College in Mankato at 2:30 p.m.
