Carlson Nets Natural Hat Trick as Saints Down Crown

Box Score ST. BONIFACIUS, Minn. (csssaints.com) – Shannon Carlson (Woodbury, Minn./Woodbury HS) tallied three straight goals in the St. Scholastica women's soccer team's commanding 8-0 victory over Crown College on Saturday, keeping the Saints at the top in the UMAC race.

Just over three minutes into the contest Kelsey Kehtel (Duluth, Minn./Duluth East HS) scored on a pass from Casey Mitchell (St. Cloud, Minn./St. Cloud Tech). Kehtel would rack up three assists on the day as well.

Catherine Fisco (Lakeville, Minn./Lakeville North HS) then put the Saints up by two when she netted her first goal of the season at 7:54.

Carlson would get her first tally in the 19th minute and CSS would go into halftime up by three.  She then scored in the 52nd and 61st minutes to earn the natural hat trick, her second hat trick of the season.

Scoring two in a row was Theresa Magliano (Duluth, Minn./Duluth Denfeld HS), as she hit the back of the net in 67th and 75th minutes for her first two goals of the season. Taylor Cunningham (Eau Claire, Wis./Eau Claire Memorial HS) was credited with the assist on the first goal and Carlson had the assist on the second.

The eighth and final goal was scored by Lauryn Wilson (Fargo, N.D./Fargo South HS) at 87:24 with the assist going to Maggie Dolan (Minneapolis, Minn./St. Anthony Village HS).

Goalkeeper Kelsey Reeves (Eagle River, Alaska/Eagle River HS ) would earn her sixth shutout of the season, making two saves in the win. Crown keeper Hillary Brondsema made 10 saves in the loss. The Saints outshot the Storm 33-3.

The Saints (11-1-0 UMAC; 13-4-1 overall) will look to keep their five-game win streak alive when they travel to Martin Luther College on Friday, game time is 3:30 p.m.
