Box Score MINNEAPOLIS (csssaints.com) – The St. Scholastica volleyball team swept North Central University on Friday night in Upper Midwest Athletic Conference (UMAC) action.
The Saints never trailed in the match, jumping out to a 12-4 lead in the first set and then scoring seven straight points to open up an 8-1 lead in set two and they also led 7-2 at the beginning of the third set. CSS took the first set 25-12, the second set 25-16 and the third set 25-13.
Anna Zyvoloski (Sauk Rapids, Minn./St. Cloud Cathedral HS (Minn.-Duluth)) led the Saints with 14 kills.
Taylor Tyllia (Duluth, Minn./Duluth East HS) added seven kills and
Caitlin McKernon (Coon Rapids, Minn./Fridley HS) had six kills.
Erika Birkeland (Prior Lake, Minn./Prior Lake HS) had 28 set assists and
Danielle Benusa (Shakopee, Minn./Shakopee HS) had 11 digs. Mariah Simonson had eight kills to the lead the Rams (1-22, 0-10 UMAC).
The Saints (14-10, 9-1 UMAC) will be at Northwestern College tomorrow afternoon in a conference showdown between the league's top two teams. The match is scheduled to begin at 2 p.m.
