Kehtel Gives Women’s Soccer a 1-0 Victory over Augsburg

Box Score MINNEAPOLIS (csssaints.com) – Kelsey Kehtel (Duluth, Minn./Duluth East HS) broke a scoreless contest in the 79th minute as the St. Scholastica women's soccer team defeated Augsburg College 1-0 Tuesday night at Edor Nelson Field.

The first 45 minutes would go by with the Auggies (9-4-2) having a slight edge in shots, 6-4, but both teams went into the locker room with nothing to show.

In the second half, the first shot on net for CSS would be a good one as Kehtel bent it in from 20 yards to give the Saints a 1-0 lead. Kaylee Benson (Nowthen, Minn./Anoka HS) had the assist. For Kehtel it was her team-best 17th goal of the season, but the first against a non-conference opponent.

Augsburg would get a couple shots on goal late, but Kelsey Reeves (Eagle River, Alaska/Eagle River HS ) stopped them all to give the Saints the 1-0 victory.

Reeves had seven saves to earn her fourth shutout of the season. Lexi Felix had five saves in the loss for the Auggies. Augsburg had an 18-10 shot advantage, but the Saints had the lone two corners of the contest.

The Saints (11-4-1) will be on the road back in conference action this weekend, looking to avenge an earlier loss to the University of Minnesota Morris on Friday and then take on Crown College Saturday. The Morris contest is scheduled to begin at 2:30 p.m. Friday.
