PREVIEW: Volleyball to Host a Strong Regional Opponent in St. Ben’s on Tuesday

DULUTH, Minn. (csssaints.com) – The St. Scholastica volleyball team will play its final non-conference opponent this regular season when it hosts the College of Saint Benedict Tuesday night at Reif Gymnasium.

Record: 13-9, 8-1 UMAC

  • The Saints are coming off a solid weekend, sweeping the University of Minnesota Morris on Friday night and defeating Crown College in four sets on Saturday.
  • CSS will enter Tuesday's match on a four-match winning streak, their first such streak since starting the season 4-0.
  • The Saints lead the conference, averaging 17.1 digs per set and have three players over 200 digs this season, led by Anna Zyvoloski (Sauk Rapids, Minn./St. Cloud Cathedral HS (Minn.-Duluth)), who has 261.

  • The Blazers are sitting just outside the AVCA Division III Top 25 poll, but may move into the poll before the match Tuesday after defeating 19th-ranked UW-Stevens Point on Friday.
  • St. Ben's is currently second in the MIAC standing behind the University of St. Thomas.

  • The Blazers swept the Saints earlier this season at the Augsburg Invitational.
  • Alexa Rinde had 12 kills in the win, while Zyvoloski had 12 kills in the loss.
  • The Saints defeated St. Ben's in five sets in the 2011 NCAA Tournament First Round match in Moorhead, giving the Saints their first-ever NCAA Tournament victory.
