MANKATO, Minn. – The St. Scholastica volleyball team swept Bethany Lutheran College on Friday night in an Upper Midwest Athletic Conference (UMAC) contest at North Gym.
The Saints won by scores of 25-22, 25-18, and 25-12. The first set was tied at 21-21 until CSS took control with three straight points and ultimately win the set. The last time the Saints would trail in the match would be at 5-4 in the second set. The Vikings fall to 5-12 overall and 1-2 in conference play.
Anna Zyvoloski (Sauk Rapids, Minn./St. Cloud Cathedral HS (Minn.-Duluth)) led the Saints with 11 kills and she was followed by
Paige Hardy (Hibbing, Minn./Hibbing HS), who had nine kills.
Kayla Horbacz (Isanti, Minn./Cambridge-Isanti HS) added eight kills.
Erika Birkeland (Prior Lake, Minn./Prior Lake HS) had a team-high 18 assists and
Sarah Kurtovich (Andover, Minn./Andover HS) had 16 assists.
Nikki Hughes (Lake Nebagamon, Wis./Northwestern HS) led the team with 11 digs and
Megan Windschitl (Sartell, Minn./St. Cloud Cathedral HS) had two block solos and four block assists.
The Saints (13-5, 3-0 UMAC) will be at Martin Luther College tomorrow afternoon as it will be homecoming for the Knights. The match begins at 1 p.m. and can be seen live on Knight Vision, courtesy of Martin Luther.
