DULUTH, Minn. – The St. Scholastica volleyball team will open up Upper Midwest Athletic Conference (UMAC) play and hold its first home matches this weekend when University of Minnesota-Morris and Presentation College come to Duluth.

The Saints beat Simpson College in straight sets to close out their weekend at the Blazer Invitational in St. Joseph. The Saints took down the Storm (1-8) by scores of 25-21, 25-22, and 25-19 to end the weekend on a good note.
Paige Hardy (Hibbing, Minn./Hibbing HS) was named to the all-tournament team.
St. Scholastica Saints (10-5, 0-0 UMAC)
With a 9-2 record to start the season, the Saints have stumbled as of late going 1-3 in their last four matches … CSS lost back-to-back matches the past weekend for the first time since Sept. 11, 2009 … The Saints will finally have their first home match when they will face conference rival University of Minnesota-Morris … CSS has received a huge lift from
Anna Zyvoloski (Sauk Rapids, Minn./St. Cloud Cathedral HS (Minn.-Duluth)) who leads the Saints with 204 kills, and 193 digs, and the next closest to those numbers are Page Hardy who has 159 kills, and 118 digs … Zyvoloski went over 1,000 career kills last Friday against the Cougars … Hardy has already been named to three all-tournament teams this season.
Minnesota-Morris Cougars (8-3, 0-0 UMAC)
The Cougars have started the season very well by going 7-1, but lost their last two matches at the Blazer Invite last weekend … Morris bounced back on Tuesday by sweeping Macalester College … Kaylie Clark has contributed 94 Kills and 101 digs for the Cougars ... Coming into this season the Cougars were ranked second in the UMAC preseason coaches poll and were only three points behind the Saints for the number one spot … The Cougars return five starters from a year ago, including three honorable mention All-UMAC performers … Morris is coaches by 2010 UMAC Coach of the Year Chad Braegelmann.

The Cougars defeated the Saints in five sets last Friday at the Blazer Invitational, hosted by the College of Saint Benedict.
Presentation Saints (1-12, 0-0 UMAC)
Presentation enters the weekend on an eight-match losing streak, and have only won 10 sets, and losing 33 sets so far in the young season ... The lone win this season for the Saints came against another UMAC program, Northland College, at the Alverno Tournament … The Saints will play the LumberJills again on Saturday … Megan Goedert leads the Saints with 99 kills, and the next closest is Tina Boldt with 57 kills ... Kelsey Schmidt has recorded 141 digs… The Saints enter this season with no seniors on the roster, and have only return three players from last year.

The last time both Saints teams faced each other was on Oct. 16, 2010 when St Scholastica swept Presentation in three sets. Zyvoloski had 11 kills to lead the team.
