Oles Remain Unbeaten with 2-0 Win over Saints

MOORHEAD, Minn. – The St. Scholastica women's soccer team gave up two second half goals as St. Olaf College won its fourth straight to open the season with a 2-0 victory on Sunday at the Cobber Classic, hosted by Concordia College-Moorhead.

The Oles outshot the Saints 8-4 in the first half, putting seven shots on goal but CSS goalkeeper Molly Bergmann (Walker, Minn./Walker-Hackensack-Akeley HS) stopped them all as the game was scoreless at the half.

Finally in the 69th minute, Danielle Larson scored to put St. Olaf up 1-0. Then with seven minutes left in the contest, St. Olaf added some insurance with a Taylor Kuramoto goal to make the final score 2-0.

The Oles outshot the Saints 15-6 in the game. Bergmann stopped a career-best nine shots in the loss for St. Scholastica. Nora Forbes had three saves to earn the shutout for the Oles. Andrea Beatt (Maple Grove, Minn./Maple Grove HS) led the Saints with three shots. St. Olaf also had an 8-4 advantage in corner kicks. The Oles improve to 4-0-0 this season.

The Saints (1-4-0) begin Upper Midwest Athletic Conference (UMAC) action on Tuesday when they travel to Ashland, Wis. and play Northland College. Action is scheduled to get underway at approximately 4 p.m. after the men's contest.
