Eagles’ Hot Shooting Dooms Saints

DULUTH, Minn. – The St. Scholastica men's basketball team let the game get away from them early against Northwestern College, losing by a score of 81-58 on Friday night at Reif Gymnasium.

Northwestern College (14-6, 8-1 UMAC) started off the game on a 20-4 run. The Saints (8-12, 5-4 UMAC) wouldn't reach double-digit points until 14 minutes into the game. Northwestern shot lights out in the first half, shooting 77-percent from the field, and making their first six 3-pointers. On the other hand CSS shot just 19-percent from the field. Northwestern's Aaron Reep led both teams in scoring with 12 points in the first 20 minutes. Northwestern took a 48-18 lead into the locker rooms.

CSS would never get into the game in the second half. CSS shot 37-percent for the game, and were led by #Brett Tester# and #Matt Feuling# with nine points. Northwestern's Lance Westberg had a game-high with 19 points. Northwestern would finish the night shooting 61-percent from the field, and 71-percent from behind the arc.

Northwestern led in every statistical category except second chance points, which the Saints scored eight points, and Northwestern had seven points.

It will be Alumni Day for the CSS basketball teams tomorrow at Reif Gymnasium. The men's Alumni Game will take place at noon, prior to the Saints' game against Crown College at 5 p.m. The Crown game can be seen live, courtesy of the iFan Sports Network, at csssaints.com.
