ISHPEMING, Mich. – Junior #Eleanor Magnuson# led the St. Scholastica women skiers Saturday, finishing 20th in the Central Collegiate Ski Association (CCSA) Championships 5km freestyle in a time of 19:07.1.
University of Wisconsin-Green Bay's Carolyn Freeman took the championship title in a time of 17:23.4. The University of Alaska-Fairbanks' Raphaela Sieber finished second in at time of 17:28.6, with host, Northern Michigan University's Christina Turman, third in 17:32.1.
Saints senior #Julia Curry# finished two spots and eight seconds behind Magnuson in a time of 19:15.1 in 22nd place. Senior #Lindsay Wallis# finished 30th in a time of 19:43.6 to round out the Saints scoring. The Saints finished seventh as a team. Northern Michigan leads after day one for the CCSA Team Championship title.
The CCSA Championships conclude Sunday with the 15km mass start classic. The CCSA team champions will win the inaugural Butch Reimer Cup, named for the long-time UW-Green Bay coach who passed away suddenly this past fall.
