Men’s Hockey Ends Regular Season on a Sour Note

EAU CLAIRE, Wis. – The St. Scholastica men's hockey team dropped its regular season finale on Friday night to the University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire 3-0.

The Blugolds (13-10-1, 7-9-1 NCHA) got their first goal on the power-play with 3:35 left in the first period when Bryce Wilcox put the puck in the net.

Eau Claire added to its lead just one minute and 34 seconds into the second period when Travis Peckskamp added another power-play goal. Eric O'Hearn made it a 3-0 lead with 13 minutes left in the second period with an even-strength goal.

Both teams then hit the penalty box in the third period with nine penalties, totaling 40 minutes in the period. The Blugolds ended up with the 3-0 victory.

#Patrick Sullivan# had 22 saves in the loss for the Saints, while Brandon Stephenson had 26 saves in the victory for Eau Claire.

The Saints (9-15-1, 4-14-0 NCHA) will now look forward to the NCHA Peters Cup Tournament where anything can happen. CSS will face a familiar foe in the opening round as it heads across the bridge to face rival University of Wisconsin-Superior next weekend in the two-game series. The games will take place on Friday and Saturday night at Wessman Arena. The team with the most points after the two games will advance. If there is a tie, the teams will play a 20-minute mini-game following the second game.
