IRONWOOD, Mich. -- Freshman
Sharmila Ahmed (Savage, Minn./Burnsville HS) led the St. Scholastica women skiers Sunday in the Grandview XC Challenge 10km Classic.
Ahmed's time of 33:42.4, landed her in 15th place overall, 13th among college skiers. Northern Michigan University's Monica Markvardsen won the overall and led the collegiate field in a time of 31:12.9, while teammate, Marie Helen Soderman, took second in both fields with a time of 31:21.9. Team CXC's Carolyn Ocariz finished third in 31:31.3.
Senior
Eleanor Magnuson (Champlin Park, Minn./Champlin Park HS) posted a time of 34:35.1 to place 28th overall and 20th among collegiate skiers. Sophomore
Brooke Adams (Spooner, Wis./Spooner HS ), rounded out the top three for the Saints in 37th overall, in a time of 35:29.5, 23rd in the college ranks.
The Saints will see action again next weekend in a single make-up race, a 5km classic, at Michigan Tech University, December 17th, before pausing the official racing calendar until the New Year.
