DULUTH, Minn. – The St. Scholastica women's soccer team controlled Crown College from the onset on Friday afternoon at Saints Field, outshooting the Storm 38-1 on its way to a 2-0 Senior Day victory.

Today's victory by the Saints, paired with Northwestern's 3-2 loss to Northland, means the Saints clinch the UMAC regular season title outright for the eighth straight year and the 11th time overall.

The Saints honored their four seniors this afternoon: Bailey Mahlum (Bismarck, N.D./Bismarck HS), Molly Bergmann (Walker, Minn./Walker-Hackensack-Akeley HS), Malia Grosskreutz (Honomu, Hawaii/Waiakea HS (Lewis & Clark)), and Megan Flesvig (Duluth, Minn./Proctor HS). Both Mahlum and Bergman split time in net today. Neither Mahlum nor Bergmann would make a save in the contest, but Mahlum would get credit for her sixth victory.

The Saints put the ball on net 20 times in the contest with Crown goalkeeper Hillary Brondsema stopping 18 of them.
CSS finally broke through in the 28th minute on a Kelsey Kehtel (Duluth, Minn./Duluth East HS) goal. For Kehtel, she extends her team-high goal lead to 16 on the year, 10 more than the second-highest total. Casey Mitchell (St. Cloud, Minn./St. Cloud Tech) and Shannon Carlson (Woodbury, Minn./Woodbury HS) had assists on the tally.

Andrea Beatt (Maple Grove, Minn./Maple Grove HS) added the other goal just one minute and 35 seconds into the second half. Beatt would score her sixth of the season on a header off of a Joey Moore (Duluth, Minn./Duluth East HS) corner kick. The lone shot for the Storm (0-16-1, 0-10-1 UMAC) came as the second half expired and was wide of the net.

The Saints extend their conference regular season unbeaten streak to 96 consecutive games and still have not allowed a goal against UMAC competition this season.

The Saints (13-4-1, 10-0-1 UMAC) will conclude the regular season tomorrow when they face Northwestern College. The game will be played at Malosky Stadium on the campus of UMD and will begin at 4 p.m. We hope to bring you the coverage live at csssaints.com.
