The Saints volleyball team took just 1 hour and 46 minutes to sweep both the Northland Lumberjills and the University of Wisconsin-Superior Yellowjackets on Wednesday in Reif Gym.

This was the second win over the Lumberjills (1-23, 0-12 UMAC) for CSS this season.  Although the UWS game was non-conference, the victory over the Yellowjackets (15-16) gave the Saints bragging rights in the border battle.

The Saints started the night off taking on Northland.  In set one the Saints and 'Jills were neck and neck for the first few minutes, at one point the game was 8-6 Saints.  It was at this point that the Saints went on a scoring frenzy and scored 17 of the next 20 points to take the set 25-9.

The second set was all Saints as they took the first four points and also had seven straight at one point to take it 25-11 and go up 2-0.

In the third set, the Saints again came out strong taking the first three, also having a streak of six straight points as they cruised to a 25-10 victory and a sweep against Northland to start off the evening.

Anna Zyvoloski (Sauk Rapids, Minn./St. Cloud Cathedral HS (Minn.-Duluth)) led the Saints with 15 kills, and Megan Windschitl (Sartell, Minn./St. Cloud Cathedral HS) added seven as part of the attack for CSS.  Sarah Kurtovich (Andover, Minn./Andover HS) added 29 set assists for the Saints.

The Saints didn't waste any time in the first set against UWS as well jumping out to an early lead, taking nine straight at one point and taking it 25-11.

Set two was much of the same for CSS as the 'Jackets were only able to score consecutive points once in the entire set and the Saints took that one handily as well 25-11.

The third set was a scary one for CSS as they let a 19-12 lead slip away as UWS cut it down to 19-18.  The two teams would go back and forth until Zyvoloski had two straight kills to end the set at 25-21 and give the Saints another 3-0 victory.

Zyvoloski and Paige Hardy (Hibbing, Minn./Hibbing HS) both had 16 kills in the game, and Zyvoloski added 14 digs to earn a double-double.  Nikki Hughes (Lake Nebagamon, Wis./Northwestern HS) and Kurtovich added 11 digs a piece and Kurtovich also had 35 set assists.

The Saints (22-6, 11-1 UMAC) will take the court again this weekend when they host Crown on Friday at 7 p.m. and Northwestern on Saturday at 1 p.m. in a potential decider for the regular season conference champion.  Both games can be seen on GameCentral at csssaints.com.
